Working with global teams

Challenge

A key challenge for Global Team Leaders is to build team cohesiveness and to fully access and leverage upon the team’s talent to reach and maintain performance across borders. Achieving such goals becomes even more challenging when team members do not share the same working culture, and have different habits, values, or expectations.

Low cohesiveness and poor talent management may lead to demotivation, conflicts, frustration, and even power struggles that can seriously undermine the team’s effectiveness and productivity.

Solution

Our programme Working with Global Teams (*) has been d esigned specifically to increase cooperation, enhance motivation, build trust, maximize team cohesiveness and thus boost performance.

Working with Global Teams combines training and coaching to ensure that the learning is effectively applied in the workplace, hence accelerating business results. Indeed, in a study on the effects of coaching, the authors found that while their training intervention with managers increased manager productivity by 22.4%, adding one-to-one coaching support with the training pushed productivity to 88%.

Working with Global Teams Programme Overview

Our programme starts with a workshop, and is followed by coaching.
Your leaders attending this programme will learn how to:

  • Increase team-spirit and cohesiveness, by learning the dynamics of team development, and how to access and manage the resources and the individual talents available within their teams.
  • Enhance communication among team members by learning to listen actively and to focus on every parties’ perspectives and needs; to choose to respond instead of reacting to uncomfortable statements; and to be open to explore new solutions.
  • Increase and improve team performance by learning coaching skills and techniques to develop effective, high performing teams.

Our trainings take a principle-based approach and are fully based on adult learning principles in developing those skills. Learning is highly experiential, and full participation and active contribution from participants is required. Our coaching programme includes two options: we may work with the whole team or on one-to-one basis.

Delivery options

Our programme Working with Global Teams consists of 20 hours of instructor-led training followed by individual coaching.

Workshop (Instructor-led training)

  • Day 1: Increase team-spirit and cohesiveness
  • Day 2: Enhance communication among team members
  • Day 3: Increase and improve team performance

The program can be delivered in three consecutive days or in three days over time.

Coaching

  • 8 individual coaching sessions (over the phone, each 60 minutes long, to be taken within maximum six months)
