Communication & Conflict Management

The way we are brought up makes us think that it is normal to compete, judge, demand and diagnose. That is, to think and communicate in terms of what is “right” and “wrong” with people.

However, we need to differentiate what is normal, from what is natural! At Giuseppe Totino we believe that our nature is empathic, and that the oral language has the task to expand our empathic domain.

Language & Consciousness

We like to think of oral language as a magnifying lens. The more we use a language that is close to what we are experiencing, the more others can see clearly what is going on with us. The further away we are from what we experience, the more difficult it is for others to understand us and connect to what we experience. They need to guess what is going on with us, what we intend to communicate. In a way, it is like gambling!

Conflicts & Relationships

Such disconnection may generate confusion, misunderstanding, and frustration. When skills are not available to us to avoid escalations it may even lead to violence and conflicts.

That is why it is key to learn communication skills that connect, and that serve our empathic nature!

Only when we learn the skills to understand what we want or need in the moment, and how to effectively ask for what we want without using unhealthy demands, threats or coercion, we are able to build quality relationships both in life and at work.

Conscious Communication

Conscious and collaborative communication (based on Marshall Rosenberg’s NVC) gives the tools to reach such consciousness and to speak a language that connects.

At Giuseppe Totino, our vision and our mission are aligned with what we believe in. Our facilitation services, our training programs for organizations, our University courses, and our coaching services, are all designed and conducted in alignment with our values.
